I said to my husband, “I think I need to go back to therapy.”
I have felt it building. The familiar panic moments in the middle of the night where I go check that the burners are off and that the outlets are not overcrowded. And when I can’t go back to sleep because I just imagine everyone I love dying and I can’t protect them. I can feel myself spiral, and everything feels like a disaster.
Thats a warning sign for me. (I mean, I always think everything is a catastrophe, but it’s extra bad right now. ☺️ ) I’m grateful to have great people around me who can help me observe when it’s time to get extra help.
It’s okay not to be okay. And its okay to be okay one day and not okay the next day. I don’t think mental health is something you arrive at one day; I think it’s a journey that has dips and turns, and lots of them! Sometimes you work on something and things go well, until they just don’t anymore. And then you go back and work on it again and help yourself remember.
In honor of Mental Health Awareness month, I just want you to know you’re not alone. I have built a successful business, I love my husband and kids and our life together, but I also am diagnosed with anxiety and depression. Those things CAN co-exist with each other. There are so many forms of treatment and I encourage you to find what works for you, and look again if it stops working! That’s where I am right now, I’m going to look again. And that is okay.
